A validation workshop was organized by Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) on February 16, 2025, to validate the findings of a baseline study on home-based RMG workers in Bangladesh.
The study was conducted as part of the project “Promoting Decent Work and Organizing for Targeted Home-Based RMG Workers (HBRMGWs) Engaged in Formal RMG,” with funding provided by the EU and in collaboration with OXFAM Bangladesh and Dream Consultancy.
Home-based RMG workers play a crucial role in the RMG supply chain, tirelessly embroidering and assembling garments from their homes. Yet, their contributions remain largely unrecognized, and their struggles often go unnoticed. Despite their vital role, these workers lack access to fair wages, social security, and safe working conditions. Excluded from labor laws and policies, they remain vulnerable to exploitation.
Stakeholders from various sectors, including BLF, OXFAM, and project partners, came together to discuss key challenges and validate the study’s findings. This initiative marks an important step toward ensuring decent work and rights for home-based RMG workers.
