The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign concluded with a powerful call to action on Human Rights Day. In alignment with this year’s global theme, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), in association with Gender Platform Bangladesh, organized a Cycle Rally to amplify awareness and mobilize public support against online abuse.
Event Highlights
The rally brought together activists, workers, youth, and community members to spotlight the escalating issue of digital violence faced by women and girls, particularly those working in digital, informal, and remote sectors. Participants emphasized that online harassment is not merely a technological challenge but a critical human rights concern that affects safety, dignity, and equal participation.
Key Messages
Digital violence disproportionately impacts women workers, limiting their freedom, confidence, and opportunities.
Protecting women in digital spaces is essential to ensuring broader gender equality and safeguarding fundamental rights.
Collective action, from communities, policymakers, employers, and platforms is crucial to ending online abuse.
Promoting digital literacy, accountability, and safe reporting mechanisms can significantly reduce risks.
The Cycle Rally served as a visible and united stand for justice and equality. Each participant represented a shared commitment to building safer, more inclusive online environments. The ride symbolized resilience, solidarity, and the ongoing movement to ensure that every woman and girl can navigate digital spaces without fear or violence.
