Observed Fire Prevention Week – 2024

Fire Prevention Week – 2024
“Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!”

Fire safety is a critical issue in the garment industry, especially in areas like Keraniganj local RMG, where numerous factories operate very congestive manner. Keraniganj local RMG factories often faces fire incidents ignited by short circuit, rapidly spread through the factories and buildings due to inadequate fire safety measures and emergency exits. Over the years, numerous fatal fires have occurred, often linked to poor safety standards, faulty wiring, and overcrowded workplaces.
Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF) together with Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defense (FSCD) observed Fire Safety Week 2024 in the Keraniganj RMG cluster aimed to enhance awareness and educate workers and management on fire safety practices. Hundreds of employers and workers joined in the events and empowered themselves about fire hazards and prevention measures.

Organizing a Fire Safety Week in the Keraniganj garment area is essential for ensuring the safety and well-being of workers. We believe by educating employees and demonstrating effective practices, we can significantly reduce the risk of fire incidents. This initiative can foster a culture of safety and preparedness, ultimately contributing to a safer working environment in the Kreaniganj Local RMG Factories.
