National Consultation: Finalize the Trade Union Charter for COP30

Bangladesh has taken a historic step by officially including the concept of Just Transition in its NDC 3.0, a milestone that links climate ambition with social justice and labour rights.

To carry this progress forward and ensure that workers remain at the centre of climate action, the Bangladesh Labour Foundation – BLF, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) and with the support of Mondiaal FNV, organized a national consultation with trade union leaders to finalize the Trade Union Charter for COP30.

This Charter outlines trade unions’ key demands for a worker-centred Just Transition, focusing on:
– Decent and green jobs
– Social protection for all workers
– Green skills and reskilling programs
– Active worker participation in climate policies

The Charter developed through BLF’s continued advocacy and leadership and will be presented at COP30 through the Government of Bangladesh by the Trade Unions of Bangladesh, representing the united voice of Bangladesh’s workers for a fair, inclusive, and equitable climate transition.
