Strengthening Advocacy & Social Dialogue through Worker Priority Poll (WPP)
Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), in partnership with Mondiaal FNV, WageIndicator Foundation, and Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS), and with support from the European Union, is implementing the “Decent Work Due Diligence Bangladesh (DWDDB)” project. More than 40 trade union officials, including women, youth, and senior representatives from federations like the Tannery Workers Union (TWU), Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad (SKOP), and IndustryAll Bangladesh Council (IBC), attended the session. The goal of the session was to increase awareness and participation about the Worker’s Priority Poll (WPP), a massive data gathering project that gathers workers’ primary concerns in a variety of industries, such as leather goods and footwear, tanneries, and ready-made garments (RMG).
Strengthening Evidence-Based Worker Engagement
Building a common understanding of the WPP and its function in promoting rightsholder participation in the Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) process was the main goal of the session, which also explored useful avenues for trade union involvement.
- Gaining a basic knowledge of the goals of the Worker’s Priority Poll (WPP).
- Using statistics supported by evidence for tripartite negotiations, social discourse, and advocacy.
- Getting opinions on successful WPP implementation strategies from trade union leaders.
- Increasing trade union support for outreach and WPP survey execution.
