National Alliance for Just Transition Bangladesh: Advancing a Worker-Led Transition

On 28 February 2026, National Trade Union Centres SKOP (Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad) and Sectoral Trade Union Platform IBC (IndustriALL Bangladesh Council) convened a strategic sharing meeting to operationalize the National Alliance for Just Transition – Bangladesh.

Creating a Worker-Led Platform

The gathering was a big step toward establishing NAJTB as a national platform run by labor organizations and employees. In order to promote unified lobbying on climatic, environmental, and technology transitions, participants agreed on a 2026 action plan and established the alliance structure.

Key Messages

  • Workers’ rights and livelihoods must be safeguarded, and everyone must have decent work.
  • Universal social insurance and living wages are crucial for protecting workers amid changes.
  • Participation of trade unions in national processes, such as development and climate policy, must be significant.
  • Ensuring inclusive, rights-based, and socially equitable transitions requires collective action.

Emerging from the momentum of the Dhaka Declaration 2025, NAJTB reflects a growing commitment to transform Just Transition from a concept into a structured, worker-led national movement in Bangladesh.
