A K M Ashraf Uddin, the Executive Director of BLF, recently joined as a distinguished panelist at “Road to COP30: Multi-Stakeholder National Dialogue on Just Transition” organized by YouthNet Global and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Bangladesh.
In his remarks, Mr. Ashraf Uddin emphasized the importance of ensuring job security, addressing informalization, reducing skills gaps, and creating decent employment opportunities for youth. He highlighted the key commitments under the Dhaka Declaration and the Trade Union Charter for COP30, underscoring the centrality of workers in Bangladesh’s Just Transition pathway.
Other panelists brought rich perspectives:
The dialogue reflected a shared understanding that Just Transition must be worker-centered, integrating trade unions, ensuring social protection, and promoting fair pricing and buyers’ responsibility across supply chains.
BLF appreciates YouthNet Global and FES Bangladesh for convening this timely discussion as Bangladesh moves from NDC 3.0 to COP30, advancing inclusive and equitable climate action for all workers.
