Training on Tannery Inspection Checklist Updating

Bangladesh Labour Foundation (BLF), under the SMEP Project conducted Training on newly developed DIFE Tannery Sector Inspection Checklist-Based Compliance Register/Documents Preparation & Updating for Bangladesh Tanners Association members factories at the Tannery Industrial Estate, Savar. The project is jointly supported by Ethical Trading Initiative UK, Ethical Trading Initiative Bangladesh, Mondiaal FNV versterkt werknemers wereldwijd and funded by Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office
The session was inaugurated by Md. Motiur Rahman, Joint Inspector General of Department of Inspection for the Factories and Establishmetns, emphasizing the importance of compliance and workplace safety in the leather sector. The training was facilitated by Naimul Aziz, Labour Inspector (General), DIFE, newly assigned to the Tannery Estate and Mahmudul Hasan Khan, Deputy Director (Programme), BLF.
Mid level management and supervisors from BTA members factories actively engaged in discussions, making the training a great success. Their commitment to strengthening labor rights and compliance will contribute to a more sustainable and ethical leather industry.
